Multiple Grammy award winning singer, songwriter and producer Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds and his wife, acclaimed television and film producer Tracey Edmonds announced their permanent separation from each other this afternoon.

Via a spokesperson, the Black Hollywood power couple said: "After being unofficially separated for quite some time, it is with deep regret that we announce our permanent separation. We remain best friends, and will continue to work together in our companies, and our various business ventures."
The couple met during the height of Mr. Edmonds recording career, when the future bride was invited to appear as a model in the music video for the R&B ballad "Whip Appeal." After being married, the two became business partners and formed their own YabYum Entertainment record company, and Edmonds Entertainment film production company, which debuted in 1997 with the acclaimed urban family comedy/drama 'Soul Food.'
While Mr. Edmonds helmed the music aspects of the company's ventures (soundtracks, scores and theme songs), Mrs. Edmonds rose to the upper echelons of Hollywood as a power player serving as a producer of movies such as 'Light It Up,' 'Hav Plenty,' 'Josie & The Pussycats' and 'Punks.' ;D
The couple officially married 13 years ago and have two children, ages 9 and 4, confirmed their publicist.
Rumors that the couple separated actually go further back. According to the Los Angeles Times the couple put their home in the exclusive Holmby Hills section of Los Angeles on the market for $29 million, two years ago.
"More importantly," the official statement ;Dcontinued, "we are parents of two wonderful children, and will continue to provide a loving, caring and stable environment for them. It is for this reason, that we are requesting that you respect our privacy, and the privacy of our children. We will answer no further questions regarding this matter."
Mr. Edmonds, 46, recent :Dly released the album, 'Grown & Sexy' via J Records. To date, the collection has sold 181,086 units since its release in late July. As a producer and songwriter, he has crafted hits for a who's who of music artists, including Celine Dion, Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Aretha Franklin, Eric Clapton and Boyz II Men, amongst others. As a co-founder and co-owner of the now defunct LaFace Records, he -along with partner Antonio "L.A." Reid-discovered and created icons out of acts such as TLC, Toni Braxton, and OutKast.
According to a spokesperson at J Records, he will embark on a 13-city tour next month, in support of the new album.
Mrs. Edmonds, 35, recently created and produced the first black reality show, BET's "College Hill," which wrapped its second season last spring. She reportedly has a slate of feature film projects set up at Disney, Fox Searchlight, MGM and Universal. She is currently shopping a reality show for imprisoned rap vixen Lil' Kim.
The Edmonds Entertainment Group also has interests in music publishing and artist management. ;D
