R&B singer Beyonce Knowles had to audition to play the role of Deena in the DreamWorks big screen rendition of the broadway musical 'Dream Girls'. According to ContactMusic.com, Dream Girls' producer Bill Condon wasn't quite sure Miss Knowles could handle the part. No surprise there. But once he saw the audition video he gave Beyonce the part. "I am a singer and this part gives me a chance to act', said beyonce. "There are very dramatic scenes that have nothing to do with music. I am a singer and this part gives me a chance to act." Obviously it slipped Beyonce's mind that she's already had numerous opportunities to prove she could act. Maybe she didn't read the scathing reviews? Apparently unfazed by the criticism, Miss B says, "I'm so happy and excited that I'm finally able to challenge myself and even learn what I can do myself."
