As a member of the R&B quartet Xscape Kandi Burruss was introduced to the music industry at the age of 16 by producer Jermaine Dupri. The group was responsible for three platinum albums which included the hits, “Understanding” and “My Little Secret”. Despite the success that the group achieved, they disbanded in 1999 to work on solo ventures. In 1999, Kandi along with former group member Tameka “Tiny” Cottle and Kevin “She’kspere” Briggs crafted the ..1 single, “No Scrubs”, for TLC’s multi-platinum album, “Fanmail”. Later the song earned the writing team a prestigious Grammy Award, an accomplishment that changed Kandi’s life forever. That same year she co-wrote five songs for Destiny’s Child’s sophomore album, “The Writing’s on The Wall”. The album included the group’s first ..1 song, “Bills, Bills, Bills”, and the Top 40 hit, “Bugaboo” which helped the album go on to sell 9 million copies. In response to her extraordinary talent in July of 2000 Kandi became the first woman to earn the covenant ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Songwriter of the Year Award. i23.photobucket.com/albums/b353/xscape2xscape/Beige.jp
